Both Rudys hitting Back Squat PRs yesterday during Max out Wednesday! So many Bell-Ringers on the Back Squats from our 8-week Squat Program. Christmas came early!!

A little Recovery Day retrospect from Coach Bryan:
“I hit a back squat today that I never thought I’d hit again. My 385# lift matched a lifetime PR from when I was training to play college football as an offensive lineman at a body weight of 265#. The significance of that lift didn’t sink in until a few hours later because I was a bit frustrated about just missing a few heavier attempts. What I remember most about that lift in college was how much it hurt. It was one of the main reasons I stopped playing the sport I loved. I had such bad patellar tendonitis pain, it hurt to walk, let alone try to squat close to 400#. Today’s lift was knee pain-free. It’s been about 8 1/2 years since the last time I squatted this much, but I am a completely different person. Most people would think that getting older and losing weight would prevent me from hitting strength numbers from my youth. Not only have I done just that, I’ve also run a marathon, attempted an Ironman Triathlon, done over 30 unbroken pull ups (huge success for a FFG), and as a self-proclaimed introvert, can stand in front of a group of 25+ individuals and lead them through a structured activity. As I get closer to 30, I am doing more things than I could ever do when I was 20. This stuff works. As much as you may think I spend all day training while classes aren’t going on, that’s not true. I train for the same hour a day as most of the members at Connex. I get better every day because of that hour. I get faster, stronger, more efficient, improve at skills, increase my confidence, reduce my stress levels, laugh more, become a better person; all in one hour a day. The intangible benefits of spending an hour with all the great people that walk through our doors are miraculous. It’s been 3 1/2 years since I started CrossFit and each day is better than the last. My #1 goal is to make everyone who steps into Connex feel the same way I’ve felt since day one.”
