What if you are going out to dinner with friends? Here are some suggestions to reduce the stress when eating out. Try to stay away from fried foods, anything described as creamy, and limit your alcohol intake. Skip the fries and cheese curds (it’s one month, you’ll survive) and have a side salad or vegetables instead. When it comes to the dressings, stick with a vinaigrette and skip the ranch or oversweetened french. If you are getting chicken or fish, try baked or grilled as opposed to fried. When the dessert menu arrives, either skip it or try an offering that has fresh berries if possible. Alcohol can be a sneaky thing; limit yourself to one glass of red wine or try a Norcal Margarita . Beer, especially heavy craft brews, can be loaded with excess calories, just like the soda and other sugary beverages we are trying to avoid. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with sticking with water; ask for a lemon with it for some flavor. Plus it’s included with the meal at no charge, so drink up!
