What are your favorite hobbies, talents, skills outside of CrossFit?
Grabbing a beer with friends and family, hanging out with our dog Nelson, playing guitar, and playing video games.

What motto or phrase do you live by?
The only two things you can control are your attitude and your effort.

What is your favorite music to listen to while WODing?
Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Rage Against the Machine.

What recent adventure are you planning?
My upcoming wedding to Kari and our honeymoon to Antigua

Cross Plains, WI (west suburb of Madison)

What is your occupation?
I’m a student at UW in Engineering, in the Air National Guard and working at an engineering company in Middleton

What is your athletic background?
I played soccer in high school and have always loved running. I also love a good game of racquetball.

How long have you been with CrossFit Connex?
Since May 2015.

What is your favorite lift?
I’ve really enjoyed overhead squats lately.

What is your least favorite lift?
Jerks. Ugh.

What would your perfect WOD look like?
___ Rounds for time: 400m run, ___ front rack lunge, ___ overhead press

What motivates you during a CrossFit WOD?
Counting down how many reps until I’m done.

What do you eat pre/post WOD?
Quest bars post-wod

What results have you seen so far in coming to CFC?
I’ve lost weight, pants fit better, gained muscle mass.

What was you main reason for joining CFC?
I was just getting back from Japan and Kari wanted to try it. She bought us Groupons for my birthday.

Give us some insight as to your thoughts after your first workout at CrossFit Connex?

Tell us a little about then VS now in regard to your performances as a CrossFit athlete
Still have a lot of things to work on, but I’m more confident and have been slowly increasing my weight during WODs.

Do you have any special or successful CrossFit Connex memories/moments?
After we did the 1 mile sled push Post-WOD (with Bryan, Alyse, and Kari), I was so happy I didn’t puke. That was a success.

What advice would you give to a newbie or someone just joining CrossFit Connex?
I still feel like a newbie so…

What sort of life changes have you experienced because of CrossFit that you didn’t expect?
Kari and I didn’t really ever work out together so it’s been fun to spend more time together while also getting in shape.

Open Gym 4-6:30 – Make up a WOD you missed this week or get some assistance with some weaknesses by one of our knowledgeable coaches. Come hang out with us!
