I think everyone knows this by now, but my wedding! My fiancé Brian and I are getting married in the Senate Parlor room at the State Capitol and having our reception in the Gehl Club at Miller Park in September. Then honeymooning in Aruba!
Do any of your family members CrossFit? If so, where?

What is one thing you have done at CFC that you never thought you would do?
I was really nervous the first Saturday WOD when a 1-mile run was our warm-up, but I made it running the whole way and that was HUGE for me. I’ve always known I am strong, but actually being able to put numbers to my strength and accomplishing the WODs day after day feels awesome.
The coaches! Especially Emily who never fails to keep me motivated and give me that boost when I need it. All my Connex teammates and fellow strong ladies that remind me it’s ok to be strong. Nothing beats those familiar voices in my ear when I feel that I don’t have much left.
What do you eat pre/post WOD?
Post: Meat and Veggies
What results have you seen so far in coming to CFC?
My normal clothes are falling off! The combination of weight loss and muscle gaining/toning has been exciting to see. I’m also more confident and overall just happier with more energy. It works!
What was your main reason for joining CFC?
I’ve always wanted to do Crossfit since I first heard about it, but for different reasons I never joined. Brian gave me a Groupon for Christmas and after we got engaged and set our wedding date, I figured it was time. I wanted to feel better before going dress shopping and I was ready to start making some healthy habits and do something good for myself.
Give us some insight as to your thoughts after your first workout at CrossFit Connex?
Holy cow! I hadn’t worked that hard in a long time, if not ever before! Then I wanted more and to feel that high again and again…
Tell us a little about then VS now in regard to your performances as a CrossFit athlete
The running, burpees and endurance stuff was really hard for me at the beginning. I found myself out of breath a lot. Now it’s slowly but surely getting more manageable and I’m learning how to breathe better to control that feeling. Just last night I went running with my dog by choice and it was actually kind of fun.
Moving from ring rows to the bands for pull-ups. Completing that first 1-mile warm-up (Thanks Kevin and Christian for staying back from the group and keeping pace with me!) And every time I lift more than I thought I could makes me feel fantastic.
What advice would you give to a newbie or someone just joining CrossFit Connex?
Let yourself drink the Kool Aid! Keep coming and when you think you have nothing left to give, push harder. Find A Way!
What sort of life changes have you experienced because of CrossFit that you didn’t expect?
Like I said before, I’m happier and have more confidence. It feels really good to embrace my strength and want even more. I’ve already accomplished so much in 3 months I can’t wait to see what happens in 6 months or a year.
